MedicareMedicare is a government sponsored health insurance program that pays some medical benefits on behalf of qualified disabled and elderly people. Coverage is available under Medicare for prescription drugs, wheelchairs, and for the cost of certain medical supplies. For example, there is partial coverage for glucose monitors and diabetic shoes for those suffering from the effects of diabetes. Medicare Part A covers a portion of inpatient hospitalization for up to 90 days. Medicare Part B covers a portion of the charges made by physicians and surgeons.
